Dolceamaro Cioccolateria is known as the best patisserie in Orvieto. Chocolate cakes are simply divine and the chocolate almond delctable. The shop is ran by a young couple and they make special cakes for parties and marriages upon request.
If you want to taste the true Orvietan cuisine, you must come to the Conte. The antipasti are delightful, "Tagliolini al tartufo" light and tasty, the meats are juicy and the grilled sausage peppery and unforgettable. Don't expect to be treated friendly by the owner, but his two daughters are lovely. Try the "Foresco Barberani" red wine, simply perfect with this type of food. DELICIOUS!
A very well known spot in Orvieto, very fancy yet casual. You'll find here good elaborate dishes, not the true rural Umbrian cuisine. Expect long queues.
Hidden in the small but very pretty piazza XXIX Marzo (a good spot where to park your car for a tour of Orvieto city center), this "Slow Food" restaurant offers a good deal at lunch. Small prices, good raw materials, well cooked. All the ingredients are organic, coming from strictly selected farms and local producers. The dishes are well presented and the food is good. A bit wanna-be-fancy, but pleasant.
